Richmond Adult Community College (RACC) is a further education college in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. They have over 7,000 students across a wide range of courses.
The key aims of the website project were updating the website look and feel, improving the overall user experience, and ultimately increasing online course signups through the site. Rouge held a series of UX workshops to ensure that any changes would work for both students and staff, and worked closely with the internal Marketing team to make sure that the new website was appealing to new leaners of all ages and abilities.
Drupal has long been a popular web platform for Higher Education institutions because it gives content managers and developers a powerful set of tools for editing and displaying large volumes of highly variegated content.
Given that RACC already had experience of managing their existing Drupal 6 website, a move on to the mature version 7 was the obvious choice. On top of providing information for prospective and current students, the new website boasts a platform for managing course applications and interviews which synchronises data with RACC’s in-house application management system.
The applications portal builds on some of Drupal’s most popular and powerful community-contributed modules, including Profile2, Drupal Commerce, Search API, and Calendar, to match the College’s exact requirements and get users from course search to enrolment in a matter of minutes. As a forward-thinking, dynamic organisation, RACC’s digital presence is constantly evolving, and providing them with a website which can adapt and grow to help them fulfil their objectives has proven to be one of Rouge’s most rewarding challenges.
