Know Your Flood Risk

Don’t risk your home, buy a flood risk report.

The Challenge

Know Your Flood Risk, is energetically fronted by Mary Dhonau, know endearingly as Mary Queen of Floods. It is a campaign and information website to ensure that homeowners are better informed and protected from the risk of flooding. We built the original website back in 2012, but since that time the emphasis of the organisation has shifted. Awareness of flooding is now high on the news agenda. So we only have to have a couple of damp showers over a housing estate, built on a flood plain, and off we go again.

Cue news reporters, in their Berghaus coats, somewhere in a field in Hampshire. We might joke, but in reality it is still a serious issue. The shift presented to us by the campaign was to re-develop the website to sell flood reports, not just promote the campaign.

So, on with the Rouge branded wellies, out with the website spanners and we took the old site apart. Using the same Drupal CMS platform we re-themed and reshaped a new website. Alongside this we ran some User profiling exercises and wrote some impactful headlines and targeted user journeys into the site – all aimed at selling and informing.

The Result

An intensive social media awareness campaign, plus some fine PR and Mary’s appearances on the One Show (among others) has helped the site has go from being a static information site into a serious sales machine. It now sells reports daily and help homeowners protect their investment for about the same price as a pair of Rouge branded wellies.
